Plan International Egypt

We’ve been part of the Safe Cities project deployed in Cairo, Alexandria and Assiut in Egypt, consulting as a specialty with government partners, representatives of ministries of Youth and Sports, Social Solidarity and Education through awareness interventions and interactive workshops about gender, gender-based violence, sexual harassment, advocacy and community initiatives and mobilization with civil society partners.

We also delivered a highly specialized training program addressing gender-responsive planning and budgeting.

  • Cairo - March 2022

    • Attended by government and civil society partners. Representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Social Solidarity, Youth Centers, and partner associations

    • A simplified concept of social gender was established with the trainees to neutralize all previous prejudices

    • A general view was produced about the concept, importance and tools of gender responsive budgeting

    • Discussions about the roles of executives from the government sector and civil society in implementing gender-responsive budgets

    • Discussions about some Egyptian initiatives and the state in the gender-responsive budget and its relationship to achieving development goals

    • Discussions about budget analysis tools and a plan for gender-responsive budgeting

  • Alexandria - February 2021

    • Attended by 13 government trainees representing the National Council for Women, the Ministry of Solidarity, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, partner associations and representatives of Plan International Egypt

    • Defining and explaining gender, gender roles and differences with sex

    • Discussing gender based discrimination and gender based violence GBV

    • Defining harassment and sexual harassment and the damage it can cause

    • Agreeing on what may pass as reasons for sexual harassment to happen

    • Brainstorming on actions to combat sexual harassment

  • Luxor - December 2020

    • Attended by 13 government trainees representing the National Council for Women, the Ministry of Solidarity, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, partner associations and representatives of Plan International Egypt
